Lecrae, Kirk Franklin Boycott Dove Awards For Not Allowing Them to Spread Racist Divisive Rhetoric

In 2016, “gospel” artist, Kirk Franklin, received the Gospel Artist of the Year Award at the annual Dove Awards — basically the Christian version of the Grammys. During his acceptance speech, Franklin tried to incite racial division by blaming white people for the death of two black men, Philando Castile and Walter Scott, who were shot by white police officers. The Gospel Music Association (GMA) who hosts the awards ceremony edited his comments out.

In 2019, rinse, repeat, the foul-mouthed pro-abortion “gospel singer” once again tried to use his platform to further a divisive and racist narrative. Franklin says the edited version, which aired on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), edited out his comments on Atatiana Jefferson, the 28-year-old who was shot and killed in her home by a Fort Worth police officer.

Now, he says he will be boycotting the Dove Awards — and Lecrae will be joining him.

His post received thousands of comments including one from fellow woke rap artist, Lecrae. “I only came (to the Doves) cause you came,” Lecrae told Franklin on Instagram. “You know I’m out.”

Franklin says he will “boycott any events affiliated with or for the Dove Awards, Gospel Music Association or TBN until tangible plans are put in place to protect and champion diversity, especially where people of color have contributed their gifts, talents, and finances to help build the viability of these institutions.”





 


Placing all of this in perspective, however, is that the Dove Awards — while fundamentally flawed and un-Christian at its core — clearly did not want to allow their forum to be used to promote a false narrative about racial injustice. However, it’s to be expected that the social justice warriors will not give up and — they are steeped in the “cancel culture” prevalent in secular culture. For them, it’s all about their gospel of social justice — it’s a false gospel that unites them.

GMA President and Executive Director Jackie Patillo issued a public response Monday, saying the organization was “deeply apologetic for the missteps that happened relating to the editing of Kirk Franklin’s Dove Awards acceptance speech.”

A Senate Republican-led investigation said in a report on Tuesday that Russia indeed sought to help President Donald Trump in the 2016 election, contradicting persistent White House claims to the contrary.

“The committee found that the IRA sought to influence the 2016 US presidential election by harming Hillary Clinton’s chances of success and supporting Donald Trump at the direction of the Kremlin,” it said.

“IRA social media activity was overtly and almost invariably supportive of then-candidate Trump,” it said.

Democrats called the moves a repeat of 2016, when Trump’s campaign allegedly sought Moscow’s support to defeat Democrat Clinton.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into that election found numerous instances of attempted collusion between the campaign and Russians, but inadequate evidence of an illegal conspiracy to do so.

The committee warned of a possible repeat of Russian meddling in next year’s election.

The executive branch should, in the run up to the 2020 election, reinforce with the public the danger of attempted foreign interference in the 2020 election,” the report said.

Life of the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Pastor Omodele Fatoyinbo has denied claims of her husband, Biodun Fatoyinbo, raping Busola Dakolo. According to her, it is impossible for her husband to be a rapist.

Mrs. Fatoyinbo speaking during the church service on Sunday said “My husband is not a rapist. Even if he was an unbeliever, he would not be a rapist.”

Her husband, however, took the microphone from her before she could finish her speech, and said: “the elders are handling the matter.”

Biodun Fatoyinbo, founder of the Commonwealth Zion Assembly (COZA), has announced a suspension of a seven-day programme of the church, saying the “Holy Spirit” directed him to do so.

Tagged “Seven Days of Glory”, influential preachers from the US, including TD Jakes, have graced the annual programme.

But speaking when he mounted the pulpit on Sunday, the pastor said he was unhappy about the scandal rocking the church.

Fatoyinbo has been under pressure since Friday when Busola Dakolo, celebrity photographer, accused him of raping her as a teenager.

Although he denied the allegation, the pastor has been widely criticised, with some Nigerians on Twitter asking him to step down.

Protesters marched to his church in Lagos and Abuja on Sunday, mocking him and his members.

But the pastor asked his congregation not to be provoked as they make their way out of the church.

The service ended one hour earlier than usual, with many vacant seats at the church’s branch in Ikeja, Lagos.

“I have been relating with all my mentors, you know I am a man under authority. I really love to listen to them,” he said.

“So, I am going to be giving a few instructions as time goes on but the first instruction I want to give is, with what is going on, we are going to be having prayers every day for those who are interested to come. But we are not going to have the seven days of glory.

“I don’t want all these kinds of stuff. I think last month we prayed for a whole month and we do all of that. Please, let’s be people of peace. So, if you want to pray with us, you can come here to pray. But the regular seven days won’t hold this year… you don’t want to put your guest speakers through all of that.

“You know we love to host people properly. And you know some of them, apart from the fact that the Holy Spirit spoke to me about that, my mentors said to me, this is what we need to do while we step in and make sure we see what is going on. And you know what we stand for in COZA.

“So, please let’s obey God in our mentors and be a people of peace. Also, when you are going out, they are going to direct you how to go out, please don’t fight anybody, don’t reply anybody, you came to worship. They may say things to you, it doesn’t matter. Please, behave yourselves and make sure everything is in place.”

North Korea issues strong warning to US over seized ship


North Korea, on Tuesday, repeated a warning that the United States could face unspecified consequences if it does not return a cargo ship it seized, according to NAN.

The U.S. government seized the North Korean ship, which was being used to export coal, earlier this month.

It marked the first time Washington has taken such a step against Pyongyang

Kim added: “The seizure of the vessel is an infringement of Pyongyang’s sovereignty.”

According to him, the seizure also undermines the spirit of the U.S.-North Korea joint statement agreed at the summit between Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump in 2018.

The vessel, the Wise Honest, was seized amid suspicions it was violating UN and U.S. sanctions.

It was then brought to American Samoa in the South Pacific.

U.S. authorities said the ship attempted to hide its country of origin.

Iran, on Monday, warned the U.S. against addressing the Islamic Republic of Iran with disrespect and threats of war.

This warning comes a day after U.S. President Donald Trump stoked concerns about a potential U.S.-Iran conflict.

But in a sign of brewing confrontation a year after Washington quit world powers’ 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and reimposed sanctions on it, Tehran announced a fourfold increase in its rate of low-grade uranium enrichment, NAN reports.

Tensions between Washington and its Sunni Muslim Gulf Arab allies on one side and Tehran and its Shi’ite Muslim proxies in the region on the other have been flaring for weeks.

On Sunday, Trump tweeted: “If Iran wants to fight, that will be the official end of Iran. Never threaten the U.S. again!”

Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Zarif replied on his Twitter account “Never Threaten An Iranian. Try respect—it works!”


Zarif, who was educated in the U.S. actually praised Trump for earlier remarks seen as cautioning hawks in his administration, who were encouraging conflict.

The President “rightly deplores ‘military-industrial complex’ pushing U.S. #ForeverWars,” Zarif wrote on Twitter.

But he said Trump had allowed a “B-team” of aides led by National Security Advisor John Bolton to “trash diplomacy

He accused them of “milking despotic butchers via massive arms sales”, an apparent reference to Iran’s main regional foe, Saudi Arabia, Washington’s biggest arms buyer.

Trump has tightened economic sanctions against Iran, and his administration says it has built up the U.S. military presence in the region.

It accuses Iran of posing threats to U.S. troops and interests. Tehran has denied this, describing U.S. moves as “psychological warfare” and a “political game”.

Britain told Iran on Monday not to underestimate the resolve of the U.S., warning that if American interests were attacked then the Trump administration would retaliate.

The foreign minister of Oman, a Gulf Arab state that in the past helped pave the way for negotiations between Iran and the U.S., visited Tehran on Monday.

Yousuf bin Abdullah addressed regional and international issues with Zarif, Iranian state news agency IRNA said, without elaborating.

Quoting an official at the Natanz enrichment plant, the semi-official Tasnim said Iran was accelerating the rate at which it refines uranium to 3.67 per cent fissile purity, suitable for civilian nuclear power generation.

The move came two weeks after Iran, acting after Trump reimposed sanctions aimed at blocking all Iranian oil exports to cripple its economy, declared it would scale back some commitments under the accord it signed with six world powers.

Under the 2015 deal, the Islamic Republic was allowed to stockpile a maximum of 300 kg of low-enriched uranium, and ship any excess out of the country for storage or sale.

Iran said this month that cap no longer applied in response to the unilateral U.S. withdrawal from the deal.

Trump has condemned the accord, signed by his predecessor Barack Obama, as flawed for not being permanent and for not covering Iran’s ballistic missile programme and role in conflicts around the Middle East.

Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran, told Tasnim that the UN atomic watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), had been notified about the move to step up the enrichment rate fourfold.

“It won’t be long until we pass the 300-kg limit of low enriched uranium. So it’s better for the other side to do what it’s necessary to be done,” Kamalvandi said, alluding to steps by other powers to shield Iran’s economy from U.S. sanctions.

He said the acceleration of Iran’s centrifuge enrichment machines remained within the bounds of the nuclear deal, and Tehran had no intention to exit the accord.

It was not clear how far Iran’s current stock of low-enriched uranium was from the 300-kg limit.

Under the deal, Iran may enrich uranium to 3.67 per cent purity – far below the 90 per cent of weapons-grade, and also below the 20 per cent level to which Iran refined uranium before the deal.

Iran has threatened that in 60 days it would resume enrichment beyond the 3.67 per cent level unless remaining signatories of the deal – Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany – find a way to safeguard its vital oil and banking sectors.

Michael Arowosaiye: RCCG finally states position on death of singer who allegedly committed suicide

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Friday reacted to reports of the death of one Mr. Michael Arowosaiye, said to have committed suicide in Abuja on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

The church’s position was contained in a statement sent to DAILY POST by Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, Head Media & Public Relations.

It said while the RCCG leadership sympathises with the family of the deceased, it had become necessary to clarify information in the public.

It read: “The said Mr. Michael Arowosaiye was not a minister in the RCCG. He was a singer and a keyboardist in one of our Youth Parishes in Abuja until 2017 when he left for another ministry in 2017.

“His movement to another ministry notwithstanding, Michael, through his elder brother who is presently one of the coordinators of the RCCG Youth Choir, continued to get invitation to minister in RCCG programmes.

“He had accommodation problem in 2018 and though he was no longer in the RCCG, a family in the Mission gave him the Boy’s Quarters of their house in Sunnyvale Estate in Lokogoma which was where he lived till the unfortunate suicide incident.

“It is therefore untrue to refer to him as a Minister in the RCCG. It is also misleading and absolutely incorrect to create the impression that RCCG does not care for its Members and Ministers.

“The RCCG is in the forefront among organizations with robust welfare package in Nigeria.:
